KEY SCRIPTURE: Luke 4:14 WEB “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.”
The bible is filled with a number of anointed men who were mightily used by the Spirit of God to reveal the power and glory of God in their times. It is worth learning about what these men did to get into the flow of the anointing. We would also learn about the stories of people in our times who were also anointed by the Spirit of God. We would take from their own stories, about how they became anointed. I believe many young and upcoming men and women of God will find clues to how to receive the anointing to be a blessing to their respective generation.
For our first character, we would look at the Lord Jesus. The Lord did not do any special works in the first thirty years of His life. He lived among His brethren and community, basically, as a carpenter. It was after His thirtieth birthday that John the Baptist came baptising in the Jordan, and also announced the coming ministry of Jesus. The Lord’s first act of the pursuit of the anointing was to go for John’s baptism. John was hesitant in baptising Him. The Lord said, in Mat 3:15 KJV” And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.” When He submitted Himself to the will of God to fulfill all righteousness, the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a dove.
The Bible said God spoke from heaven and said, this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Going to John to be baptised meant, He had sins that were to be washed away. In actual fact, He had no sins, which had to be washed away, yet for the sake of honouring God’s word, that demanded that everyone to be used by God, needs to be washed, He had to do so, to FULFILL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Dear child of God, you cannot receive God’s approval in any meaningful service of usefulness, until you have obeyed that particular thing the Spirit is asking you to do. It may be to stop a particular lifestyle. It may be to humble yourself to a servant of God. If there is something God is asking you to do, just be obedient, and you would have the floodgates opening for you to enter into that glorious anointing.
What would have happened, if Jesus, did not submit to John’s baptism, but went to fast for forty days and nights?
Would He have returned in the power of the Spirit? Like 4:14.
STRICT OBEDIENCE, IS ALWAYS GOD’S SURE DEMAND FOR AN UNCOMMON RESPONSE FROM HIM.
CONFESSION
My God is not a mechanical God, with stereotypical ways of doing things. He has specific terms for every individual, and I respond fully to his terms, for maximum delivery of His power and anointing.
