DO NOT BE SHY OF THE LORD

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:32 KJV” Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”

Talking about God to others, should be an issue of great pride and privilege for anyone, yet it has become quite a difficult thing for most people. Unfortunately, a great number of Christian are not so bold to talk about their faith and about God. Why is this so.? Apostle Paul shows us part of the reason in the following verse.

2Timothy 3:5 KJV “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” A number of Christians have not experienced the power of God in their lives, why? Because they are only practicing religion and have neglected the power in it. (2 Tim 3:5). These ones do not see any reason to talk to others about Jesus. The Lord Jesus taught us that when we talk to others about Him, He would likewise tell the Father about us.

When the Father is informed about you, it means receiving the assistance from the angels of God. To confess about God means to acknowledge the word and to declare that it is the truth Many people would rather express unbelieve and doubt than to say, in the name of Jesus, everything will be alright. The Lord Jesus during His days in the flesh never stopped testifying about the power of God. Any time He spoke to a blind eye to be opened; it was a confession about the father. The father also kept honoring His words. Turn every challenge into a testimony by testifying about the father to that situation.

Apostle Peter described the Christians in the following way. 1Peter 2:9 KJV “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”. The reason for making us, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people and many more is to show forth or testify about God and His mighty deeds. King David was a man who had such a mighty ministry because he always confessed to others about the wondrous works of God. David experienced so much about God because he never stopped telling men that God is a mighty deliverer. Singing in praise to the Lord is also another form of confessing about the father to others.

CONFESSION

My God is the greatest news to be told. My life is filled with making Him known to all men. I experience His power in every area of my life. Glory be to God my father

DO NOT BE AFRAID

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:31 KJV “Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

FEAR is a feeling of insecurity as a result of an anticipated danger. The psychologist claims fear is a necessity because it helps one to avoid destruction. This kind of fear relates to common sense, like not crossing the street on an high way or not to put your hand in fire and many such things. This view is quite reasonable yet in our dealings with God we accept His words in our hearts, which builds confidence in Him. Fear of any form takes away that inner assurance we have in God. Fear in the life of the child of God always put God our Father out of the picture. Fear therefore makes the child of God very vulnerable to the things he or she is afraid of. Job 3:25 KJV” For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” Job said he was not in safety, neither did he have rest and was also not quiet then destruction came.

Our key scripture tells us not to be afraid, because God our Father watches over us. Please read Psalm 121.The psalmist reveals God is our helper, and He does not slumber nor sleeps. Our Father is committed to our safety in every way. He says you are more valuable than many sparrows. The only way for us to receive maximum security from Him is to have faith in Him. Every promise of God is a covenant between us and Him our part of the agreement is to do what that promise says and God our Father would be bound to do what he has said. When we have fear about anything, against His promise, it means, we have not accepted His terms of the contract, and so He is not bound to fulfill it. This makes fear terribly expensive to allow into your life.

HOW can we avoid fear in our lives?

1. Take time to learn about the experiences of all those who trusted in God. He never failed even one of them. He can’t fail in your case. Hebrews 13:7&8

2. Read and meditate on various promises of God’s protection, provision and promotion. Make them always fresh in your spirit saying them to yourself.

3. Never declare any statement of insecurity insufficiency or lack of favor. Daily declare that you are completely secure, and your needs are completely met. Say also that you are highly favored by God.

Your words that agree with the scriptures would ensure that you always respond positively to those words in the day of danger or challenge.

4. Always act in line or in agreement to what God’s word says.

IF you would do these things, you would always be ready to face and overcome any danger.

CONFESSION

God my father is my helper. He is all powerful, ever faithful and loves me completely. I have absolute confidence in Him. No evil befalls me. I am very much at rest and very peaceful.

DO NOT FEAR MEN

KEY SCRIPTURE Matthew 10:28 KJV” And fear not them. which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him, which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”.

MEN have various kinds of fears. Fear of the future, fear of deadly diseases, fear of shame, fear of robbery attack, fear of death and many more. Among these is the fear of those who would persecute the righteous and ultimately kill them. This kind of fear has limited the church in boldly preaching in some parts of the earth. The church of God has suffered persecutions since the inception of the church. The reason for persecution is to stop the church from saving, the many that are bound to sin. The gospel must go, irrespective of any kind of threat that men may raise, to challenge it.

What can we do to strengthen our resolve to boldly face them.? The Lord answered that for us. He says those who oppose the gospel, and may even kill us, only destroy the body. They have nothing more to do. The soul of the Christian lives forever in heaven, when the believer dies. Phi 1:23 KJV” For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:”, The apostle said if he should die, he would be with the Lord instantly in heaven, and that is FAR BETTER. This should be the sure faith of every believer. It is in this light that we must be extra bold to keep advancing the gospel in the face of threats and dangers posed to us by men.

What are we to be afraid of? He said fear Him who can destroy both the body and soul in hell.   What is the meaning of this, someone destroying the body and soul in hell? This person is the Lord. He will ultimately judge all men (2nd Corinth 5:10) It means if we live for ourselves and do not honor God’s word, then we really have to be afraid. The Lord will cast all those who live for themselves and do not honor Him into hell.  The following is the Lord’s advice to all men. Matthew 5:29 KJV “And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” Be careful about how you are living today. No man has authority over your soul.

CONFESSION

I am given to the course of Christ. My heart is set to please Him always. I do not fear men, who can only kill the body and that is all. I fear God and live to please Him, for He will cast a man into hell, who lives for himself.

NO DISCIPLE IS GREATER THAN HIS MASTER

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:24 KJV” The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his Lord.”

We continue with our walk with Jesus through the gospels. The Lord states in our key scripture, that no disciple is greater than his master. This is a very important statement, and has a lot to teach us. He added that, the disciple can be at best equal to his master. Every disciple if he should become anything at all, must study the life of his master and do as he has done. This may bring you to his level.

Now, who is our master in the light of our study? Our master is the Lord Jesus Himself. He is our ultimate example to emulate. As much as we may have men who would be training, teaching and mentoring us, we may not be limited to that alone as we have Jesus’ example to follow. The Lord Jesus is the ultimate master. We are all servants and His disciples.

I do not think it is scripturally proper to be limited by the spiritual Stagnation of any man. Scripture encourages us to look unto Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 KJV” Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

We must study His life critically and learn from Him. We have to practice all that He did if we wish to function anywhere near what he did. The Lord fasted, we must also fast. He prayed consistently and aggressively. (Heb 5:7) We must do same. The Lord went out ministering the word to many who were lost. We should not be shy or ashamed about standing by the roadside sharing the gospel with people. The Lord openly healed the sick. We must learn from the way He did it. NOTE Jesus never prayed for one sick person, He always instructed the sick to do what they could not do. (Mk 5:41, Mk 2:11, Luke 13:12). Praying for the sick was taught in James 5:14. The Lord personally did not pray for any sick person. Learn these things and do likewise. You must also expect to be persecuted. Mk 10:30.

Now, why do I say Jesus is our ultimate example and not any man? The Lord would judge everyman according to his works.  If the physical master did not do as the Lord required, he may be rejected, and you accepted, because you did as the Lord required. How then should we relate to our earthly masters? Love them, honor them and obey them. Do only those things that the scriptures reveal. If their actions are in anyway opposite to what the Bible teaches, then ignore it and do as the word of God teaches. Do not criticize any leader but rather pray for him or her, if he happens to be erring in his actions. You may also point his errors to him, yet do it respectively.

PRAYER

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your great leadership example, I am dedicated to honoring your word in every way. I pray for all children of God to follow you diligently

SHEEP IN THE MIDST WOLVES

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:16 KJV “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

The Lord says he sends us as sheep in the midst of wolves. Sheep in the presence of a wolf is a very miserable state. The sheep is quite a defenseless creature. The sheep has no claws to defend itself or the ability to escape from its predators, because it is not fast in running. The Lord instructs that the Christian must be as harmless as a dove, yet as wise as a serpent. The whole quest, is about surviving in a hostile world. The snake has one of the greatest survival instincts among all creatures. The snake is also one of the most harmful creatures of all time. We can’t be harmful as the snake, so the Lord adds that, the Christian must be as harmless as a dove. This is a paradox, yet that is about the Christian.

AS Christians, our best example of one who survived the dangers of wolves, but was harmless, yet very wise as a serpent, was the Lord Jesus Himself. Heb 12:3 KJV” For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” This verse tells us to consider or learn from his example. He survived a host of wicked treacherous men who schemed to stop him in every way yet they failed.

HOW was Jesus able to prevail in the midst of wolves? His secret was an absolute reliance on the Holy Spirit.  They tried to get Him to speak against the law, so they could legally get Him? He always amazed them with answers that was beyond human conception. This is achieved by maintaining a very close relationship or fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The strong prayer life of the Lord Jesus was His way of maintaining that dominance of the Holy Spirit in His life.

Let’s consider the words of the Pharisees about His success over their schemes. John 12:19 KJV” The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.”

The Lord showed further, how He was so successful in the following verse. John 12:24 KJV” Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” The Lord showed that, the only way for the Spirit to have a complete control of our entire being is by dying to Self. When the Lord died we all died with Him. You have to know and maintain that you are dead, so the Holy Spirit can fully take charge over you. (Gal 2:20). The Holy Spirit is the embodiment of success. He can truly make us wise as a serpent yet very harmless as a dove.

CONFESSION

By the ability of the Spirit, I am as wise as a serpent but very harmless as a dove. I am crucified with Christ, yet I’m alive with His life. It is the Holy Spirit who now leads me in all I do.

PREACH THAT THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS COME

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:7 KJV “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

What is the kingdom of heaven as well as the kingdom of God.? These two phrases are used interchangeably in the word of God. The kingdom of heaven is basically the place called heaven where God rules the whole universe from. The kingdom of God is the reign of God in both heaven and everywhere God is _accepted to_ rule.  Scripture in a number of instances interchange its use.

Our Father God dwells in heaven and so heaven is associated with Him. 2Ch 20:6 KJV” And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?” This was the prayer King Jehoshaphat prayed, when he sought help from God, to be delivered form the Syrian king. He said God is in heaven yet he rules in the kingdom of the heathen. God our Father is the king   of kings. He seeks to reign over all men. When men fell into sin, they were ruled by another king, Satan. Ephesians 2:2 KJV” Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” This prince of the power of the air is the one who makes men disobedient to God. He has initiated that life of rebellion against God.

Man under the rule of Satan is lost and grievously messed up. Sin, sicknesses and all kinds of deprivations is what this king (Satan) gives them. God is on a mission of love to rescue men from this wicked King. A metaphor of this, is what we saw of the children of Israel under Pharaoh. Moses was God’s agent to do this rescue work, and bring them under the reign of God. (Please read Luke 1:68-74). The Priest Zacharias (John the Baptist father) prophesied about this program of God to restore the reign of God over men. Our message as a church to the world is about God who has set up His program of deliverance for men, so He could reign over them, bringing peace, holiness, health, prosperity and every sense of liberation. This is why every Christian is fully empowered to play this role. Sadly, most Christians have not come to the realization of this, and are chasing for what God has already endowed them with. 2 Peter 1:3 KJV “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

Dear child of God, there is a place called heaven, where God dwells. When God takes over the heart of men, He brings that Kingdom into them. O! what an amazing realization. We begin to enjoy Heaven in our hearts with its related lifestyle, even before we get there. He has commissioned us to tell men that His kingdom has COME, and men should forsake their tyrant king (Satan) and surrender to Him. Healing, deliverance, opening of blind eyes and the demonstration of His power, is to show men the evidence and reality of the kingdom of God. Mat 10:8 KJV” Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. ” Child of God, when God sent Moses, did He empower him? Why are you crying for power? Maintain your fellowship with Him and know that the glory on you is even greater than what Moses had. (Read 2 Corinth 3:5-11). Hit the ground with this good news for the lost, saving them by ministering healing and holiness to them.

CONFESSION

God is my sufficiency who has made me an able MINISTER, who has sent me on a rescue mission. I play my part in this rescue mission, by telling men about His kingdom that has come with peace, power, purity and prosperity. These are the things He has endowed me with, and I likewise bring it to men.

THE BIBLE, A PROGRESSIVE REVELATION

KEY SCRIPTURE: Mat 10:5 KJV “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:”

The word of God is a progressive revelation. This statement means that, as you go along studying   the scriptures, certain earlier truths or instructions are perfected in their proper light. In our key scripture the disciples were instructed to go only to the lost sheep of Israel and not to any other tribe. Now let’s look at another instruction that is very different from this one. Matthew 28:19 KJV” Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Comparing these two scriptures we see an upgrading of the earlier command or instruction. In the later instruction to reach out, He asked His disciples to go to all nations and teach them all that He had taught them. In Acts 1:8, makes this clearer. He said to His disciples about when the Holy Spirit is come upon them, they will be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the uttermost part of the earth. God’s ultimate plan for evangelism was to the whole world, yet He started with the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Another topic of this teaching on progressive revelation is the teaching on the old and new covenant. There is an old covenant called the covenant of the law and the new covenant (John 1:17) called the covenant of grace. The old covenant was brought into force when Moses sprinkled the blood on the Jews after he had read the laws to them. Exo 24:8 KJV “And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.” This covenant of the law existed till the Lord Jesus introduced the new covenant when he talked to His disciples at the last supper, yet was effectively executed when He died and resurrected Mat 26:28 KJV” For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. This new covenant perfected God’s dealings with men.

Let’s consider some of the terms of this new covenant.

Heb 8:10 KJV “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people”: Under the old covenant the ability of God was not put into the people, but under the new covenant, Christ came to live in the hearts of men, bringing the ability of God into the hearts of men.

Col 1:27 KJV “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”: In this new covenant the law is fulfilled in us. The introduction of the new covenant meant the exit or abolishing of the old covenant.

The law was made up of Cultural or customary laws, which had to do with types of food, dresses and things of that nature. It also consisted of laws of ordinance. These were laws concerning feasts, holy days and Sabbath days observances. Lastly there were also moral laws which concerned our direct relations with God and honouring His terms. The new covenant made away with the cultural laws, and laws of the ordinance yet the moral laws were fulfilled in our hearts by the coming of Jesus into our hearts.

CONFESSION

The Bible which is God’s word is a progressive revelation. I now live by the grace of God, that has released the ability of God into my life. Sin no longer have dominion over me. Now I am free from Satan’s hold.

POWER AGAINST ALL DEVILS

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 10:1 KJV “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

LIFE is a contest of power. There are unseen beings who are opposed to the comfort, peace and proper LIFESTYLE of men. One’s life would seriously be messed up by these devils if you are not in a position to rule over them. Most of the experiences of lots of people are as a result of the influence of these evil forces Eph 6:12 KJV “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Despite these evil personalities every Christian has received authority and power to dominate these devils. Please note: the statement of the Lord Jesus: He said he has given us power ‘against’ unclean spirits and to cast them out. The Greek word for power used in this verse is ‘exousia’. It is the Greek word for authority. Note that whenever the Judge of creation talks about giving authority, He gives the required power to enforce that authority.

The power we have to enforce this authority is the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. (Acts 1:8) Secondly, we have the host of heaven, that is the angels to act always for our defense and protection. Heb 1:14 KJV “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Dear child of God you have angels at your disposal to assist you. The way to engage them, is not to instruct them directly, but to ask the father to instruct them for your defense and assistance. Mat 26:53 KJV ” Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?” The authority we have over them makes us superior to them, including Satan. Do not allow your mind to accept their power or authority over you. (Luke 10:19)

Recently a fetish priestess who served the gods of the chief of one of the towns in Ghana visited me, saying, she does not want to be a fetish priest again. This woman became a fetish priest by being possessed with the gods(demons) and so vanished from her home in Accra and appeared in the Eastern region of Ghana. She operated for these demons for fifteen years. During her days as a fetish priest, she could vanish, do all kinds of mysterious things. The gods (demons) could appear to her in the form of snakes and other forms. We cast out the devils from her and that was the end of her experiences with them. They no longer appear to her or manifest in any form to her. The power and authority Jesus give preserves her from any form of attack or physical manipulations. Every fetish shrine with its demons are always subjected to the authority of a day old Christian. It is up to you to know your rights in Christ and exercise it in Jesus’ name.

CONFESSION

The Lord has given me authority over all the works of the enemy. I cast out devils, heal the sick and set the oppressed to go free. Nothing of the enemy touches me in anyway.

THE CHALLENGE OF THE HARVEST

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 9:37 KJV” Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;”

God loves men, and does not desire that any should perish 1Timothy 2:4 KJV (God) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” The current world population is about 7.674 billion people. The number of Christians are 2.382 billion which makes up 31.11 percent of humans on the earth. There are about 5.292 billion people who are lost in sin. The Lord Jesus died for all these ones and He is not counting their sins against them. But desiring they would come to accept the truth (2nd Corinth 5:19). The real challenge is not the huge harvest field yet to be cleared, but the lack of men and women who will enter the harvest field and grope in the souls of men. The church of God at this moment have so many people who don’t understand their call into Christianity. Many Christians are only bench warmers. He saved us to save others through us

WHO is a laborer? A laborer is a worker who stays committed to his work. What makes laborers so special to God? A laborer for Christ is first and foremost, a selfless person committed to projecting the course of Christ. (Luke 14:26)

2. A laborer for Christ accepts that he has been sent by the Lord (John 4:34,9:4)

3.A laborer for Christ knows he has a time frame to work, and that after sometime he cannot work. (John 9:4)

4. A laborer for Christ works to finish His assignment (John 4:34)

5. A laborer for Christ is not ashamed about Christ and His gospel (Rom 1:16, Philip 1:20)

6. A laborer for Christ counts himself as a slave for Jesus. Romans 1:1

It will take only laborers to get the work done. God rewards laborers, not leaders. (John 4::35)

Where can one find these laborers?

The Lord Jesus instructed that we must pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest field. (Matt 9:38) Laborers are not the products of men. They are people whose hearts the Lord has sparked His fire. Laborers are birthed in the womb of prayer. The Lord Jesus spent a whole night praying for the men who would become His apostles or sent ones. ‘Luke 6:12 KJV “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.The” Lord Jesus was starting His ministry; and needed some laborers to faithfully continue with the work after he has left the scene.

PRAYER

Father, the field is indeed white for harvest, but the laborers are few, I pray that you spark your fire in all church goers to become laborers in your vine yard.

GOD WANTS YOU WELL

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 9:35 KJV “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

(Please read Matt 9: 27-36)

The life and activities of our Lord Jesus was all about the revelation of the will of God. He did what God would have done. In the passage above the Lord Jesus was involved in ministering healing to various groups of people. This act shows how God our Father wants all men to be well. In Matt 9:35, He preached in the synagogue, and healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases. Sickness is one of the most destructive assault of the devil against all humanity. Our Lord Jesus consistently healed anyone who came to him to in faith, expecting to be healed. OH 6:37 KJV “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” The Lord keeps open arms to receive and bless all who come to Him.

The teaching on the ready attitude of our Lord Jesus to heal the sick is a very divided matter among a number of Christians. I wish to ask one question, if the Lord Jesus was to be physically present with us, would He accept you and heal you, if you were to come to Him with your sickness.? The opposing view to Christ’ readiness to heal has been deepened by the issue of the thorn in Paul’s flesh. 2Corinth 12:7 KJV “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.” This scripture says that the thorn in his flesh was a personality, a messenger or an angel of Satan, that buffeted him. Truly Paul’s life was filled with untold persecutions, distresses, and difficulties. All these was the work of this angel of Satan sent to buffet or beat him up in various forms. (Please read 2nd Corinth 11:24-31)

In Joshua 23:13, the Lord referred to thorns in the eyes of the Israelites. At this instant too the thorns in their eyes were not sickness, but human beings who would torment them, like Paul faced. Secondly if the thorns were sickness, the scripture said, because of the abundance of revelations he was given this thorn in his flesh. I wish to ask you how much revelations do you have to be humbled with that sickness in your body. You can’t have the faith to be healed of those diseases if your mind is filled with such wrong interpretation of the scriptures. Please understand that it does not matter, whether you are an apostle or ‘an ordinary’ Christian, healing is always received by faith. To all who would believe shall not be put to shame. (Romans 10:11-13)

CONFESSION

Thank you, heavenly father, for your will to see every one of us healed. Thanks also for the clear and unambiguous way to be healed. It is to receive your word by faith. You are not a respecter of persons, and so I take advantage of this provision and walk in my perfect health.
