KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 3:18  “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”.

We now look at some of the steps to receive healing from the Lord. Our first step to consider is:

LOOK AND BE HEALED

Our key scripture tells us that as we behold or look at the glory of God in the mirror of God’s word. We are changed into the same glory we look at. Looking implies turning our attention from the symptoms the pain and look at God’s promise of healing.. During the journey of the Israelites to the Promised Land they complained about God feeding them only with manna. The lord allowed fiery serpents to attack them, biting and killing a lot of them. They turned to Moses asking him to pray unto the Lord. The following was what the Lord said. Number 21:8 “And the Lord said unto Moses make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole, and it shall come to pass that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live”.

Moses made the brazen serpent and put it on a pole as the Lord had said. As many that looked at the brazen serpent on the pole were healed and lived. On looking at the serpent on the pole it showed their faith in God. They stopped being occupied with the pain and the threat of death and rather accepted God’s word of hope and faith.

The Lord Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:14, 15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Our Lord Jesus was made sick with our sicknesses on the cross. Isaiah 53:4 reads “Surely he hath borne our griefs (sicknesses) and carried our sorrows (pains)………” He has carried away all our sicknesses and pains. Looking at him means turning away from your condition to believe in him who has become our substitute taking away all our sicknesses.

There is no healing for anyone who does not look away from his condition unto the truth who is Christ.

 CONFESSION

Lord Jesus I turn my attention from every pain and sickness to look on you who borne all my sicknesses and carried away my pain. I believe I am healed because you have taken them away.

Hebrews 12:2 “” Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?  For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread”.

We continue with the need to walk in love as a way of preserving our health. Our key scripture reveals that the cup which we bless and the bread we break are a communion with the blood and body of our Lord Jesus. He speaks further that although we are many, we are just one bread, represented by the bread we break. We are also one body which is Christ Jesus.

The mystery of the communion reveals the inseparable union that exists between us as Christians. This union establishes a covenant between us and the father through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new testament,(covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins”.

Love for one another is the binding power that keeps us as one. Ephesians 4:3 “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. Any child of God who does not walk in love is destroying that oneness of the body of Christ.

This is something which must not happen. You therefore open yourself up to any attack of the enemy and God can do nothing about it, because you have sought to tear the body of Christ apart.

Dearly beloved it is a very serious thing for any Christian to walk out of love. In the light of this love is our nature so we could easily express love. The fruit of our recreated human spirit is love (Galatians 5:22)

The sad truth is that many Christians are living in bitterness towards one another. This happens mostly in the family system. When this happens culprits have no divine covering and are opened to any evil attack of the enemy, especially with sicknesses.

CONFESSION

All Christians are one united in one body. We are bonded together in physical expression by love.I would endeavour to keep this unity of the Spirit through my love for one another.

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith”,

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep”

KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:1 ” Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”.

We continue with our study on why some Christians remain sick.

Some Christians are too lazy to do certain actions that can assist them to take advantage of the grace of God. God’s grace is always available to see us through every challenge that we may face. The scriptures says 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…….”During your weak moments God’s strength is made perfect and you must take advantage of that grace. Some are lazy to study God’s word and even   lazy to maintain a declaration of God’s word.

God’s grace is very much available but you must take advantage of it. The scripture says submit to God resist the devil and he will flee from you. Unfortunately a number of the children of God would not have the time to resist the devil and his works in their lives. Note, what you fail to confront and resist have the right to remain.

Another area why some Christians are sick is when they fail to walk in love. Every fellow believer is the body of christ.1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular”. If you fail to walk in love and to mistreat your fellow believer you would not have discerned the brother or sister as the body of Christ.

 Now listen to what the Bible says when we fail to discern the body of Christ.1 Corinthians 11:29-30 ” For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep”.

Please note ,the body of Christ  is His body, whether the bread that is broken or the fellow believer that you mistreat.The scripture said  many are weak and some are sick and others even die.

Dear child of God  walking in love is to be very natural for the Christian and therefore it must be very normal with us to walk in love.

May we always learn to discern the body of Christ by walking in love.

I refuse to be lazy in practicing any spiritual exercises. I always take advantage of the grace of God .Love is my nature, so as I walk in love towards all, the power of God keeps me strong and healthy at all times.

 James 4:6-7 ” But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.

1 John 1:6-7 ” If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 6:2 “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth”.

We continue our study on why some Christians get sick as we consider the experience of Job.

In Job’s story as recorded in the book of Job chapters one and two, we see Satan complaining that Job serves God because of all the blessings God has bestowed on him. The Lord permitted Satan to attack him but must spare his life. All these experiences may seem that it was God who just allowed Satan to afflict him.

Let’s read Job 3:25-26 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came”. Our key scripture reminds us that one is snared by the words of his own mouth. To be snared means to be trapped or held captive.

Job says he has always haboured a great fear in his heart about the very thing which happened to him. He said he had not been in safety, neither did he have rest and he was not in quiet. Apparently he had been saying all these things. Let consider Ecclesiastes 10:8 ” He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso break an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. “Who broke the hedge around Job? He broke it with his mouth. He said, the thing I greatly feared is come unto me. He had faith in the devil. You always get what you believe for.

Many of us are snared with the words of our own mouths. Voicing out our fears and speaking as if God is powerless and Satan and his demons have everything under their control. Anyone who speaks this way has personally invited the devil to take charge of affairs in his life. Satan would definitely come and God cannot stop him. The Lord permitted Satan because Job had left God’s perfect will by virtue of his negative words.

Dear child of God according to Hebrews 2:14 our Lord Jesus paralysed or destroyed Satan who had the power of death. To destroy you Satan would have to move you against yourself, making you say words that implicates you.

Dear child of God, choose to say only what God’s word says, no matter what may be happening around you or to you.

CONFESSION

God reigns all the time reign with Him. In the name of my Lord Jesus no matter what happens I am more than a conqueror all the time.

Proverbs 18:21” Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

Hebrews 2:14 ” For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil”;

KEY SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 5:13  ” Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst”.

God desires to see His children healthy and well. He even seeks that His children glorify Him in their bodies (1st Corinthians 6:20). He has made provisions for the healing and health of His children. Why are a number of Christians still sick?

One of the major causes of sicknesses among many Christians is lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge…..” Knowledge is light and light cheaply destroys darkness. Darkness is described in scripture as the power of the enemy. Sickness is a manifestation of the power of the enemy.

 Many Christians know so much about a lot of things in this life yet they do not know what the scriptures have said about, who they are, what is theirs and what they can do.  The problem with having knowledge is not just an issue of not getting information. There is so much information all around us. There are a million ways to access knowledge in this age of ours. The truth is that most of us have no time to stay with the word of God. The Bible says attend to my words. It is the information you fellowship with, that you get to know.

 The other aspect of lack of knowledge is one’s readiness to believe what he has read. Most of us are too sophisticated these days and would want to explain everything scientifically thereby we miss God. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of this world, and not after Christ”. (Col 2:8) God had chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and the weak things to expose the mighty. Unbelief is the cause of lack of knowledge.

Our key scripture says “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge and their honourable men are famished and their multitudes dried up with thirst”. Please let this not be your portion.

 CONFESSION

I have opened up myself to the fullness of every knowledge that God gives me through His word. I will not be in the dark and my life and health shall continually spring forth.

Hosea 4:6 ” My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”.

Psalms 119:130 ‘” The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death”.

One further sure grounds for divine health is an acknowledgement of the law of the Spirit of life that is at work in every Christian. Before we were born again there was a kind of law which functioned in us. It Is called the law of sin and death. This law functioned in our old man. Roman’s 6:6 “Knowing this that our old man is crucified with Him,  that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”

The old man is not just our flesh but our spirit nature before being born again. After we were born again, this man was crucified and Christ came to live in us. (Galatians 2:20, Colossians 1:27) Christ became the very life force of out being. He came into us with a new law; the law of the Spirit of life. This law destroys all sicknesses and the power of sin.

I would narrate the experience of one man of God who got this insight and believed it. His name is Evangelist John G. Lake.

An epidemic had broken out in South Africa where he was living in that time. The epidemic was so contagious that mere touching of those already infected could lead to an infection. But it was observed that John G. Lake had had contact with several infected patients without being infected. When asked about it he replied that another kind of life was at work in Him and that if the disease germs came in contact with his body this life (the law of the Spirit of life) in him would burn them up and destroy them.

They asked him to prove it and he agreed to a test, they took a sample containing these germs and dropped some on the back of his hand. They actually viewed his hand underneath a microscope to ensure the germ cells were alive. After a few minutes, they checked under the microscope again and the germ cells had stopped moving. They had all died. Hallelujah!

This is your nature and who you are if you are born again.  Admit that a superior law is at work in you.

The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has indeed made me free from the law of sin and death. I refuse to allow any sickness to reign in my body.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, you are alive in me. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ has made me free from the law of sin and death, my life is a beauty of your glory.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 8:11″  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.

Divine health is the will of God for His children. How does one maintain his or her divine health?

As a recap, divine health is God’s Power keeping you from getting sick. Please understand that the fact that you believe God for divine health does not mean the devil will not raise all sorts of attacks at you. He will come with certain symptoms. Some may even look very threatening at times. It would be up to you to know how to silence all those onslaughts. Ephesians 6:16 reads. “Above all, taking the shield of faith, where with ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”.

Satan always seeks avenue to put the believer down. He will raise all sorts of attacks anticipating that you yield to him with fear.  The Bible says we must take up the shield of faith by which we would be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. You must constantly work on your faith in the word.

 Keep feeding on the word.

 Keep declaring the word

 Keep acting on the word.

 Never give any attention to what may be going on in your flesh. They are lying symptoms. Jonah 2:8 says “those who observe lying symptoms forsake their mercies.

In such moments Proverbs 4:20-25 shows us what to do. The passage teaches us the following.

1. Give attention to the word
2. Incline your ear to the word.
3. Keep them in your heart.
4. Let it not depart from your eyes.
5. Guard your heart and don’t let fear enter your heart.
6. Guard your mouth from speaking fear, danger or the praise of the devil
7. Don’t let your eyes focus on the symptoms.

The scriptures teach us what to do and what not to do. Go through them carefully and observe them meticulously. The word of God remains your only grounds for victory.  Give no place to the flesh.

If you maintain your grounds you would come out victorious.

God’s word is my foundation, my strength, and weapon of defense and attack. I win always because I stick to the word. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper in Jesus name..

KEY SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 53:1 “Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?”

We continue with our discussion on divine health.

The book of Isaiah 53 is a classic prophecy of the atoning work of our Lord Jesus. In Isaiah 53:1 the prophet wrote “who has believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?” The scripture informs us of a report that if anyone is to believe he would receive the arm of the Lord (the power of the Lord) being revealed to him or her.

Isaiah 53:4 reads “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted”. Let’s consider the meaning of some of these words in the Hebrews language from which this scripture was translated. The word borne means to lift, carry, take away. The next word to look at is griefs, which is “choly” in Hebrew and it means sickness. The next word is ‘carried’ which means “bear a load”. The last word to look at is sorrows, which is “makob” in Hebrew it is translated as pain or sorrows. Matthew 8″17 translated this very scripture as “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying “Himself took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses”. The prophet stated in verse 5 that “But he was wounded for our transgression, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed”.

Apostle Peter who was a witness to the death of Jesus and knowing it’s implication as revealed by the prophet Isaiah wrote in 1st Peter 2:24 “……by whose stripes you were healed”. Please note this Isaiah said you “are” healed and Peter wrote you were healed because it was past. Your healing is already settled and completed.

Our Lord Jesus has already borne our diseases and carried our pains. It is up to you to know that it was already done. In the eyes of God you are healed. This is your provision for divine health. In the eyes of God and before the court of heaven it is written and established about you that you are healed.

You don’t have to accept any symptom of any disease because before God you are well and healed. Stand on the divine provision stated in black and white that you are healed.

CONFESSION

Thank you Heavenly Father that you have paid for my health through our Lord Jesus Christ. I cannot be sick because it is already settled in Jesus name.

1 Peter 2:24  ” Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”.

2 Peter 1:4 ” Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: Psalms 82:5-6 ” They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”

We continue with our study on the biblical foundation for divine health.

The apostle Paul said in “Galatians 2:20, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”.

 The apostle is saying over here that, the life of his flesh is no more by his natural ability but now by the Spirit of Christ.

Dear child of God our Lord Jesus died in our name, and so we died with Him. When He resurrected, He rose with a new life.  (Romans 5:5). The life of our flesh is the Spirit of Christ. Romans 8:10 says “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is live because of righteousness”. The Christian does not live by his flesh. He is a spiritual person. The spirit of Christ is the one who leads and controls the Christian.  In verse 11, the scripture added that “if the Spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He that raised Christ from the dead shall vitalise your mortal bodies”. When we were not born again we were controlled by our flesh. After our new birth we are no more controlled by our flesh but by the Spirit of Christ. In the verse 11 the Bible added that this Spirit of Christ who has become our new personality gives life to our bodies which has the tendency to die (mortal). *

 Now by faith * the body of every Christian has a supernatural life.

 This is why the apostle Paul said the life He lives in the flesh he lives by the faith of the Son of God. (Please note: this can only be experienced by those who know and believe it) if you do not know and believe this teaching of scripture you will not experience it.

Do you remember that the Lord Jesus said that these signs would accompany them that BELIEVE, according to Mark 16:17 “And these signs shall follow them that believe, In my name shall they cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues they shall take up serpents, and if they drink deadly things it shall not hurt them; they shall lay their hands on the sick and they shall recover”. This verse is not a promise, it is only stating the identification mark of the believer: He said if they are to take any deadly thing it shall not hurt them.  This includes, poison, bacteria, virus, bad chemical in the air etc.: they have no power over your vitalised flesh.

CONFESSION

My flesh has been vitalised by the Spirit of Christ in me. No sickness can live in me.
