KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 6:20 ” For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.

Our key scripture tells us we have been bought with a price; the precious blood of our Lord Jesus. We must therefore glorify God in our bodies and in our spirit. To glorify God in your Spirit is to lead a life that is upright and holy. A life where sin has no dominion over you. Note this: it is our duty to lead a life devoid of sin.

The scripture also said, we must glorify God in our bodies. To glorify God in your body implies we use our body to honour His name. Doing acts of righteousness and bearing fruits with our body. How can you glorify God that way, when sicknesses take over the body? It is your duty and right to take control over your body so it does not come under Satan’s sicknesses. Your body must not rule you. Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable unto God, which is the reasonable service”. We have to control how our bodies behaves in all things

One way to do this is to learn to speak God’s word to your body. You command the body to align to God’s word. Sickness is not God’s will for you, so tell your body to respond to health in the name of Jesus. (Never be afraid when doing it)

 Our Lord Jesus taught us to speak to anything we wanted a change. He taught us to speak to the mountains, the waves of the sea, diseased bodies, blind eyes and even dead bodies.

We learnt that when we made decrees or commands in His name, He would do it. Tell your body to align according to God’s word. Note: what you don’t confront has the right to stay.

 The Lord has assured us if we will ask in His name, He will do it. He is always with us. Stop complaining about your sick body, complains will bring no change to you. Speak to it. Believe God’s word, exercise authority over your body.

 When you first command the sickness to go, don’t continue to command it to go, rather continue telling it, it is gone by the power and authority in the name of Jesus.

 Your persistence would win.

CONFESSION

I have received the right to use the name of Jesus. Every wrong condition in my body is corrected, every system, organ tissue and cell is functioning perfectly in Jesus name.

1 Corinthians 9:27” But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway”.

Mark 11:23  ” For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 14:13-14  ” And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

In our previous study we began learning about the authority in the name of Jesus and our right to use the name.

Our key scripture states that whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do” verse 13. According to the strong Exhortation Concordance the meaning of the Greek word translated “ask” in John 14:13, 14 implies demand of something due. The Lord told the disciple, if you shall ask (demand) anything in my name, i will do it. Our Lord was not referring to prayer (that is asking the Father in the name of Jesus) here. He was talking about using His name as a basis for authority.

Let’s take a study about the healing of the cripple who laid at the beautiful gate to the temple. Acts 3:1-16. Apostle Peter did not make  request to the Father; rather he demanded that the lame man be healed by being set free from Satan’s dominion (sickness is an oppression of the devil, according to Acts 10:38).

This man was healed not because Peter was so special, but through the power in the name of Jesus. The apostle Peter said “And His name through the faith in His name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yea the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all “. (Acts 3:16)

Jesus name always carries so much power to effect anything good that Jesus would have done, if He was physically present the problem with most of us is that we have become too familiar with the name. We use it so casually. In effect we have a wrong thinking about His name. When one’s believe is wrong your confession would also be wrong.

Please know that the name of Jesus is higher than every situation. (Philippians 2:10, 11). The name is not also a good luck charm. No! Not at all. Don’t say words like, “May something good comes out of using this name”.

The Lord Jesus is person who is ever present by the power of the Holy Spirit. Whenever you make that demand, know for certain that He would take charge of the situation.

 PRAYER

Nothing would prevail over my peace and health. I command every enemy attacking my body to lose its hold right now and depart in Jesus name Amen.

To walk in health and to enjoy the Lord’s healing you must know the authority in the name of Jesus and how to use His name.

The name of Jesus is given to the church to live and do the very things our Lord Jesus did. After His resurrection He announced to the disciples, Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go therefore…..” The Lord said every authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him and therefore we must go and act in His name. The Lord gave us the power of attorney. This meant He gave us the right to use His name.

The name Jesus would unlock every door. His name means Jehovah is saviour. In Hebrew language His name is Yeshua. Jesus is the English form of the Hebrew name Yeshua. Acts 4:12 reads “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

What happens when His name is mentioned? John 14:13 “And whatsoever you shall ask in my name that will I do, that the father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name I will do it”. Please read carefully, the Lord said when you make a demand for some condition to change or for something to respond in the name of Jesus, He would do it. He meant I would always respond when my name is mentioned for a condition to change. He says where ever two meet in his name, he is there.

A mother brought her daughter who has been suffering from Asthma to me. This mother has sent the daughter to various places even to places where incisions were made on her skin with blood flowing out yet to no avail. When the mother brought her, I quoted John 14:13, 14 to her. I explained that as I mention the name of Jesus, Jesus Himself would come to the daughter through the power of the Holy Spirit and heal her.  As I commanded the devil to leave her, the mother who was holding the child went to the floor. The child was instantly healed. It has been about five years now and this child is still healed.

What is the condition threatening you? The Lord Jesus is ever present to come to the scene when you call on His name.

 PRAYER

In the name of Jesus I exercise authority over my body demanding everything to align well for a perfect health.

Philippians 2:10-11  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Acts 3:6  ” Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have given I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.

Our next step to consider concerning receiving healing is to CONFESS YOU ARE HEALED AND THEN ACT ON IT.

Our key scripture teaches us about consummating our salvation. It says you believe with your heart unto righteousness and you confess with your mouth unto salvation. The same thing goes for receiving your healing. After looking at the word and believing the revelation of the scripture on healing, the next thing is to confess with your mouth that you are healed and then you act on your confession by arising from your sick bed.

Faith without confession (action) is never complete. All creation respond to words and instructions. The Bible says without the word nothing was made or created.  God said, let there be and there was (Genesis 1:1-8). This has been the principle for bringing things to pass in this world. (Hebrews 11:3)

In Mark 11:14, the Lord Jesus cursed a fig tree, which dried up by the next morning. His disciples   were astonished when they saw it. The Lord said to them “have faith in God”. The marginal rendering of this statement is, have the God kind of faith.  Jesus then went further to explain what he meant by the God kind of faith in verse 23 of Mark 11. The Lord said in effect that anyone who says to the mountain be thou removed and go into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe in his heart shall have whatsoever he says.

The principle is believe what the word says in your heart. Say it with your mouth and then act on it. Arise out of your sick bed.

When Apostle John and Peter met the impotent man at the beautiful gate, they declared to him be healed in the name of Jesus, yet they did not stop there, he held his hands and lifted him up. It was then that strength came to his ankle bone and started walking, jumping and praising God. (Acts 3:1-14)

What happens when we confess the word?. Saying or confessing the word strengthens your assurance of the word in your heart. That is, it strengthens your faith. Secondly the angels of the Lord excel in strength and do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. (Psalm 103:20). The angels obey the voice of His word. Speak His word, by His stripes I am healed. The angels would obey and establish your healing.

CONFESSION

I believe with my heart that my Lord Jesus bore my sicknesses and pains in His own body. I cannot bear them too if He has already borne them. I am healed from all diseases in Jesus name.

KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 3:18  “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”.

We now look at some of the steps to receive healing from the Lord. Our first step to consider is:

LOOK AND BE HEALED

Our key scripture tells us that as we behold or look at the glory of God in the mirror of God’s word. We are changed into the same glory we look at. Looking implies turning our attention from the symptoms the pain and look at God’s promise of healing.. During the journey of the Israelites to the Promised Land they complained about God feeding them only with manna. The lord allowed fiery serpents to attack them, biting and killing a lot of them. They turned to Moses asking him to pray unto the Lord. The following was what the Lord said. Number 21:8 “And the Lord said unto Moses make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole, and it shall come to pass that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live”.

Moses made the brazen serpent and put it on a pole as the Lord had said. As many that looked at the brazen serpent on the pole were healed and lived. On looking at the serpent on the pole it showed their faith in God. They stopped being occupied with the pain and the threat of death and rather accepted God’s word of hope and faith.

The Lord Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:14, 15 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Our Lord Jesus was made sick with our sicknesses on the cross. Isaiah 53:4 reads “Surely he hath borne our griefs (sicknesses) and carried our sorrows (pains)………” He has carried away all our sicknesses and pains. Looking at him means turning away from your condition to believe in him who has become our substitute taking away all our sicknesses.

There is no healing for anyone who does not look away from his condition unto the truth who is Christ.

 CONFESSION

Lord Jesus I turn my attention from every pain and sickness to look on you who borne all my sicknesses and carried away my pain. I believe I am healed because you have taken them away.

Hebrews 12:2 “” Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

James 1:25 “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?  For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread”.

We continue with the need to walk in love as a way of preserving our health. Our key scripture reveals that the cup which we bless and the bread we break are a communion with the blood and body of our Lord Jesus. He speaks further that although we are many, we are just one bread, represented by the bread we break. We are also one body which is Christ Jesus.

The mystery of the communion reveals the inseparable union that exists between us as Christians. This union establishes a covenant between us and the father through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new testament,(covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins”.

Love for one another is the binding power that keeps us as one. Ephesians 4:3 “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. Any child of God who does not walk in love is destroying that oneness of the body of Christ.

This is something which must not happen. You therefore open yourself up to any attack of the enemy and God can do nothing about it, because you have sought to tear the body of Christ apart.

Dearly beloved it is a very serious thing for any Christian to walk out of love. In the light of this love is our nature so we could easily express love. The fruit of our recreated human spirit is love (Galatians 5:22)

The sad truth is that many Christians are living in bitterness towards one another. This happens mostly in the family system. When this happens culprits have no divine covering and are opened to any evil attack of the enemy, especially with sicknesses.

CONFESSION

All Christians are one united in one body. We are bonded together in physical expression by love.I would endeavour to keep this unity of the Spirit through my love for one another.

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith”,

1 Corinthians 11:29-30 “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep”

KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:1 ” Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”.

We continue with our study on why some Christians remain sick.

Some Christians are too lazy to do certain actions that can assist them to take advantage of the grace of God. God’s grace is always available to see us through every challenge that we may face. The scriptures says 2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…….”During your weak moments God’s strength is made perfect and you must take advantage of that grace. Some are lazy to study God’s word and even   lazy to maintain a declaration of God’s word.

God’s grace is very much available but you must take advantage of it. The scripture says submit to God resist the devil and he will flee from you. Unfortunately a number of the children of God would not have the time to resist the devil and his works in their lives. Note, what you fail to confront and resist have the right to remain.

Another area why some Christians are sick is when they fail to walk in love. Every fellow believer is the body of christ.1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular”. If you fail to walk in love and to mistreat your fellow believer you would not have discerned the brother or sister as the body of Christ.

 Now listen to what the Bible says when we fail to discern the body of Christ.1 Corinthians 11:29-30 ” For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep”.

Please note ,the body of Christ  is His body, whether the bread that is broken or the fellow believer that you mistreat.The scripture said  many are weak and some are sick and others even die.

Dear child of God  walking in love is to be very natural for the Christian and therefore it must be very normal with us to walk in love.

May we always learn to discern the body of Christ by walking in love.

I refuse to be lazy in practicing any spiritual exercises. I always take advantage of the grace of God .Love is my nature, so as I walk in love towards all, the power of God keeps me strong and healthy at all times.

 James 4:6-7 ” But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.

1 John 1:6-7 ” If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 6:2 “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth”.

We continue our study on why some Christians get sick as we consider the experience of Job.

In Job’s story as recorded in the book of Job chapters one and two, we see Satan complaining that Job serves God because of all the blessings God has bestowed on him. The Lord permitted Satan to attack him but must spare his life. All these experiences may seem that it was God who just allowed Satan to afflict him.

Let’s read Job 3:25-26 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came”. Our key scripture reminds us that one is snared by the words of his own mouth. To be snared means to be trapped or held captive.

Job says he has always haboured a great fear in his heart about the very thing which happened to him. He said he had not been in safety, neither did he have rest and he was not in quiet. Apparently he had been saying all these things. Let consider Ecclesiastes 10:8 ” He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso break an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. “Who broke the hedge around Job? He broke it with his mouth. He said, the thing I greatly feared is come unto me. He had faith in the devil. You always get what you believe for.

Many of us are snared with the words of our own mouths. Voicing out our fears and speaking as if God is powerless and Satan and his demons have everything under their control. Anyone who speaks this way has personally invited the devil to take charge of affairs in his life. Satan would definitely come and God cannot stop him. The Lord permitted Satan because Job had left God’s perfect will by virtue of his negative words.

Dear child of God according to Hebrews 2:14 our Lord Jesus paralysed or destroyed Satan who had the power of death. To destroy you Satan would have to move you against yourself, making you say words that implicates you.

Dear child of God, choose to say only what God’s word says, no matter what may be happening around you or to you.

CONFESSION

God reigns all the time reign with Him. In the name of my Lord Jesus no matter what happens I am more than a conqueror all the time.

Proverbs 18:21” Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

Hebrews 2:14 ” For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil”;

KEY SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 5:13  ” Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst”.

God desires to see His children healthy and well. He even seeks that His children glorify Him in their bodies (1st Corinthians 6:20). He has made provisions for the healing and health of His children. Why are a number of Christians still sick?

One of the major causes of sicknesses among many Christians is lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge…..” Knowledge is light and light cheaply destroys darkness. Darkness is described in scripture as the power of the enemy. Sickness is a manifestation of the power of the enemy.

 Many Christians know so much about a lot of things in this life yet they do not know what the scriptures have said about, who they are, what is theirs and what they can do.  The problem with having knowledge is not just an issue of not getting information. There is so much information all around us. There are a million ways to access knowledge in this age of ours. The truth is that most of us have no time to stay with the word of God. The Bible says attend to my words. It is the information you fellowship with, that you get to know.

 The other aspect of lack of knowledge is one’s readiness to believe what he has read. Most of us are too sophisticated these days and would want to explain everything scientifically thereby we miss God. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of this world, and not after Christ”. (Col 2:8) God had chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and the weak things to expose the mighty. Unbelief is the cause of lack of knowledge.

Our key scripture says “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge and their honourable men are famished and their multitudes dried up with thirst”. Please let this not be your portion.

 CONFESSION

I have opened up myself to the fullness of every knowledge that God gives me through His word. I will not be in the dark and my life and health shall continually spring forth.
