Rev. Dr. Samuel Somuah Asante is an ordained minister of the gospel, who is commissioned to project the Lord Jesus Christ. His ministry emphasis is on th divine elevation of the believer in Christ. He believes strongly that all who are in Christ have the privilege to live above sin and failure, walk in righteousness and the resurrected life of Christ. He encourages Christians, especially pastors, to live a life that manifests the glory of God through them. Rev. Somuah is a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Ghana and holds a Masters degree in Theology from International Theological Seminary (Ghana Campus), and a PhD in Biblical Studies from ZOE Theological Seminar (USA). KEY SCRIPTURE: Daniel 1:8 ” But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself”.

One example  in the bible about being a light in the world is Daniel.  We would consider what made Daniel to be so unique in manifesting the glory of God, even in a foreign land.

  1. DEVOTION

 Daniel was doggedly devoted to the Lord. In our key scripture the bible said “He purposed in His heart not to defile Himself with the portion of the king’s meat”. You cannot shine  for God without God’s commitment to you.  Holiness of life is the glue that attracts the presence of God to a man. (Matthew 5:8. “Blessed are the pure in heart,  for they shall see God”). It always takes the power of God upon the life of an individual to make him or her do amazing things.

 GET DEVOTED TO GOD AND GOD WOULD BE DEVOTED TO YOU.

  1. A MIND TO EXCEL.

Daniel was not only devoted to God by prayer, holiness of life,  he had a mind to excel.  Daniel 6:3 reveals that,  “then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes,  because an excellent Spirit was in him….. “. To have an excellent spirit ,is not just to have the Holy Spirit, but to have an attitude of excellence. To be disciplined and committed to details. Doing things right every time. Listen to what his detractors  said about him in chapter 6 vrs 5″. Then said these men, we shall not find any occasion against this Daniel except we find it against him concerning the law of his God”. They could not find any occasion of error. Daniel was punctual.  He did not cut corners or falsify figures, neither did he give bribes..  He never compromised on any grounds. His work was simply excellent. You cannot shine, if  you are not positively different from the rest .  Decide to excel by being positively different .

  1. A MAN OF FAITH IN GOD.

Faith in God is always the means to greater works.  It is this greater works that make you stand out (John 14:12).  Daniel’s faith in His God was unflinching even at the peril of His life.  Daniel 6:10 reveals to us that,  although Daniel knew that the decree had been signed that, anyone who asked a request from  any other God, would be thrown into the lion’s den, he went ahead and prayed. He was thrown into the lions’ den, yet God honoured his faith by saving him..

 God would honour your  faith to show  His glory.

CONFESSION

By Daniel example, I commit my life to revealing the glory of God in my day.  The Spirit of the Lord is actively working through me,  I am making a great impact on this world.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:14 ” Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid”.

We learnt in our previous study that among the many positive significances of light is that, light is a leader.

If we are the light of the world, then we must therefore lead in every positive pursuit of life.  The new creation is endued with great potentials to excel.  Many of us have not made use of it. The reason is ignorance and a wrong understanding of the gospel.

Please church, let us understand, we were not saved, only to be taken to heaven.  Heaven is a result of our victorious life on *this earth*Rev 2:26 ” And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations”:

If it was not so,  it would not have been necessary to be  kept  here.  We would have been sent to heaven after our conversion in the first place. It is because of the evil, poverty, sicknesses, wickedness on this earth,  that is why we are needed here. We were saved to reveal the glory of God in our lives here on this earth.  (1st Peter 2:9).

The church must lead in the economies of the world. The fathers of the faith.  Abraham, Isaac, Jacob were champions in that endeavour.  Joseph through the power of the Spirit brought answers to a whole generation faced with famine and a total annihilation. His faith in God was not for his personal prosperity alone but a big answer to a daunting problem. Our societies, especially, third World countries are groping in serious economic crises. Christians in such lands must not only pray for an intervention but must seek God’s face for solutions to be given to them for the majority.

As  a student, the born again Christian must be a leader in his academic program.  This would be so, if you would ask the Lord to make you so, and also work hard to bring glory to God.  What field of endeavour do you find yourself?. Strive to be the best in that place.  Daniel was a stranger in a foreign land.  He determined never to compromise his faith and defile himself (Daniel 1:8). As much as he was concerned, he sort to distinguish himself creditably.  The bible said an excellent Spirit was in Daniel. (Daniel 6:3). He allowed his light to shine in that foreign country. He was preferred, and the name of his God was highly exalted because of him.. Daniel 6:26.

You are the light of the world. Decide to bring glory to the Lord by distinguishing yourself in your field of endeavour.

CONFESSION

As light I have been made to shine and reveal the glory of my father. My life would forever reveal God’s glory in EVERYTHING I DO.  I will lead in every life engagement.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid”.

Our Lord Jesus was born under the law and lived under the law (Galatians 4:4) yet, he introduced the life of the new man or the new creation. He lived out the life of the new man. He is our grand example.

Jesus is the light of the world. (John 8:12). He also described those who were to receive eternal life as the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14). “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden”. Light has so many positive significance.

  1. Light is a solution in every way.
  2. Light, on any problem means the answer.
  3. Light reveals all that is hidden.
  4. Light is a leader.
  5.   Light shows the way.

 In the light of all that is said about light, calling us the light of the world, places a great responsibility on us. . Well since he always told the truth, then it also suggests that we have every ability to function as true lights.

 That is to lead, inspire, bless, and give answers to our world .. Our lives should be without crookedness and deception. .Philippians 2:15  ” That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world”;

Dear child of God, Jesus says you are the light of the world. He even added that we must let our light shine so much that others would see our good works and give glory to God our Father” (Matthew 5:16). Please note this, We are not called to be lights, but rather we are lights by nature. This is what we are. Lights can always shine. Refuse to be insignificant in this life. You are a city set on a hill, you can’t be hidden. This implies there is no power that can suppress your glory. Say it boldly, ‘I am the light of the world, and I’m shinning’.

You should be an answer to the questions of many. You should be a unique example for all those who may be having difficulties about moral matters.

The second demand placed on us as lights is to lead in all aspects of positive pursuits of life. (To be continued)

I am the light of the world. This is my nature, and so I shine in a world of darkness. My presence in the society ward off all kinds of darkness. Darkness posed by sin, sicknesses and satanic activities and other challenges among men.

THE POWER OF LOVE 2

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 John 4:16 “”And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him”.

Our key scripture shows us that to dwell in love is to abide in God and God also abides in you. This makes you the headquarters of God’s presence and power.

I would give a practical event to illustrate this. A lady brought her daughter, who has been having repeated attacks of a health condition to me. Her condition became so bad that, they had to be borrowing money from neighbours to take care of their daughter. I inquired about her relationship with her husband. She said, they were not on good terms. There was a lot of misunderstandings among them. I said to her, I would not pray for your daughter until you have called your husband, and the two of you come over to see me. She came along with the husband and then I explained to them the power of love that allows God’s presence and power to dwell in their home. I explained that demons are the cause of divisions, quarreling among families. When they succeed in dividing the parties, they then do any evil, they so wish to. I prayed with them and asked them to throw away any differences and move as a one unit family with love for each other. They departed, and from that day, their daughter stopped getting sick. They had no headaches of thinking about how to get money for the hospital, because there was no need. The secret was the power of love.

God is love. Loving one another is releasing God into action. The miracle ministry is always carried out by men and women with great compassion. Our Lord Jesus always healed the sick because of the deep compassion he had for the oppressed. Matthew 14:14 “And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick”.

Faith is the channel through which we receive from God yet love is the ground or foundation for faith. Faith worketh by love.

       CONFESSION

The expression of love is always a demonstration of God’s presence. Miracles happen when God comes to the scene. I would continually walk in love towards all persons.

THE POWER OF LOVE

KEY SCRIPTURE: 1 John 4:16 ” And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

Apostle John said ,we have known and believed in the love that God has for us. One cannot come into a true love walk until, he or she has come to terms with the love of God.

Apostle Paul, also said in 2nd. Corinth 5:14 that, it is the love of Christ that constrains or compels me. For we thus judge that if one died for all, then all were dead. He is implying that, because of the understanding I have about Christ love, my whole life is under the influence of His love, it is the love of Jesus that now controls me. Please take some time to meditate on the love of Christ for us, so you would be liberated from the normal human love, to walk in a supernatural love.

The Holy Spirit speaks further in our opening scripture that “God is love, and he that dwells in love, dwells in God.” This suggests that a home of love is a place where you can find the acts of the Spirit of God.

My question is, how many homes are filled with the love of God. How many relationships are truly abiding in the love of God? The scripture, also *   implies that, where * love is absent devils go on* rampage. This is a real fact. When God’s love dims in a home, there suddenly comes setbacks, failure in businesses, Incurable diseases start manifesting and above all these is a constant pain in the hearts of the occupants of such a home. Dear brother or sister this is a luxury you can’t simply afford.

Allow the love of Christ to overwhelm you by beginning to focus on the great love of God for you..

End that cycle of mistrust and hurting of each other. Let the love of Jesus flow through you. You are not a weak character to forgive and accept the offending party. You are rather strong when you are able to overcome the hurt and allow life to move on.

Allow God to reign in your life and home by walking in love.

I have known the liquid love of God. His love controls me and all that connects me. The blessings of God affect everything around me.

A LOVE GENERATION.

KEY SCRIPTURE:  2 Corinthians 5:14 ” For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead”:

Every Christians is part of the love generation.  A people who are committed to bless the world around them.

As human beings we grow up with the relational kind of love. This in the Greek is called ‘Phileo’.  It is the love due to the relationship we have with people. One may love another because, she is her sister, her brother, mother or friends. This is due to a relationship. This is normal human love.

There is the God kind of love. The. Bible talked about it this, way,”….. Whiles, we were yet sinners Christ died for the ungodly” (Romans 5:8). This kind of love does not consider affiliations or whether one has been good to him or her. It even accepts the one who has offended. The one who hurts you, does not receive your revenge and condemnation, but your forgiveness and blessing. The Lord said “but I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”. (Matthew 5:44). Someone may say this is difficult. Well, it is not only difficult, it’s impossible for the natural man to do.   As a child of God, you are not natural but spiritual..  You are born after the nature of Jesus.

 The ability to do the scripture is a positive response. Faith is the response of the heart or human spirit to the word of God.  Don’t receive this with your mind, no. The things of the spirit are foolishness to the natural man.  (1st Corinthians 2:14). Say to yourself,’ I can love my enemies, I will pray for them who despitefully use me.  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippines 4:13).

Dear child of God, bring the sunshine back to your home.  Give a smile to your wife, wife say a kind word to your husband. Father call your teenage daughter, this time not with an angry face, but a cheerful smiling face.  This does not mean you overlook the wrong. I am saying, don’t let the sun go down over your anger. After the stern correction, bring back the happy son and parent, daughter and mother, husband and wife, and friend’s relationship. We are a love generation.

We don’t know hatred, because we have passed from death to life.

I am a member of the love generation, I don’t curse, I do not hate neither do I enjoy evil happening to others.  I express the love of Jesus. The agape love.  Everyone that comes near me is infected with the Jesus love.

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends”.

It was love that put Jesus on the cross. His love for you and me made Him come to the earth in the first place. Someone once asked, can we also love in this way. ? I say yes because, we are one with Him (1st Corinthians 6:17).and the Holy Spirit has shared this kind of love in our hearts. (Rom 5:5)

When the Lord said, do unto others what you would want them to do unto you; He meant whatever good thing we would see fit that others do for us, we do likewise for them. Luke 6:31. By this statement He was saying put others first. Love goes out of its way to establish the security, blessing and salvation of them that are lost.

It was love that sent a number of the missionaries to Africa at such a time when there was no cure for malaria and other communicable diseases. Many of them died in Africa. Although there were some who went with wrong motives. They took advantage of the poverty of the Africans and made slaves out of a number of them.  Despite these self-seeking people, there were many more who were very genuine. They went through pain and hardship to learn the local languages and communicate the gospel to them.  There were some who were murdered in cold blood by the Africans.  Most Africans have their Bibles in their local dialects by the efforts of most of these missionaries.

Indeed greater love has no man, than this, that a man should lay His life for His friends. Every Christian has an abundant life. We have a supernatural life.  We do not relate with people with a mentality of lack and protection of what we have.  We relate with people in the light of God’s purpose and their eternal good.

It is now your opportunity to demonstrate this love to a lost one. You may accept to go on a mission to a deprived area, and spend your life for their salvation.

It is a great misunderstanding of Christianity, to think of losing.  We have been brought into a world of unlimitedness. (1st Corinth 3:21)We do not loose, but we invest. 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” Taking from us does not make us loose. Our source is limitless, our source is God. Giving must be our delight. Give your life for somebody today.

Free giving is the sparkle for the survival of creation.

He saved me to make me like Himself. I offer my life that the many who are lost in death and darkness would find life and be saved.

THE NEW MAN IS LOVE RULED.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith”.

Our key scripture reveals that the fruit of the spirit is love. It is not talking about a number of fruits.. The fruit (singular) is love. All that is spoken of like, joy, peace, longsuffering are all the manifestations of love.

The new man is love ruled, love constrained (2nd Corinthians 5:14). He hails from love. Love is the sunshine of life, for as the sun freely gives its light and heat, so is love excited about giving out freely. Love is continually filled with excitement about giving, whiles selfishness seeks to possess and keep everything to itself. It keeps and finds it difficult to release those who have hurt him or her. The tears of the selfish proceeds from his inability to let go things. Love carries a smile, a hug, an encouragement ready to be given to the world around him or her. Love indeed is the great liberator of the soul of man.

Love is not of the senses. It is not a product of the carnal instincts, it is a manifestation of the nature of the father in the hearts of His children. Romans 5:5 “And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us”. Love in the heart of the Christian is not something he or she tries to work it out, it is natural with him to love.

The question still remains, why are most Christian homes boiling with anger, division and pain? This has been so because of lack of being given an opportunity to behold the true colours of who they are.  The message about our love nature has not captured most Christians. Most people are still taught that judgement and condemning messages.  That is what they see and so they practice that.. Please dear child of God your source is God (who is love) Accept that, that is your true nature. You are a spirit being whose prime nature is love. Accept this about yourself.

You do not win by putting others down, No, You are not happy by paying others back according to what they have done to you.

  CONFESSION

The God kind of love is the nature of the new man.  I love all and hate none.  I lift all and put down none.  My delight is the joy on the faces of all, because that is who I am.

WALKING IN THE LIGHT OF OUR REDEMPTION

KEY SCRIPTURE:  Galatians 5:1” Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”

ARCHBISHOP BENSON IDAHOSA of blessed memory asked all the pastors in the meeting he held in Ghana for the last time before his demise to meet in an upper room at ACTION CHAPEL SPINTEX ROAD. During the course of the deliberation with us he made a comment in which I responded, ‘God forbid’.  I was standing very close to him since all of us stood up as he talked to us.  He turned to me and said, “As for God He has forbidden already, you must forbid.

Dear fellow child of God as for God, He has made a complete payment for total deliverance, peace, security, victory and good health in this life.  Our key scripture admonishes us to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.  God has paid the ransom price through our Lord Jesus. We must stand fast in the awareness of our liberty.  We do this by holding on diligently to all the promises of divine payment.

You can declare by faith that since the Lord Jesus died to break the power of sin over your life, sin would no longer have dominion over you. By this declaration you are making sure that you take full advantage of your redemption. It could be a word about your health, or finances or fruitfulness.

Heaven is ready to go into an agreement with anyone who takes sides with the scriptures .Isaiah 55:3 says “Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David”. When you submit to any word of God to trust in it, the Lord also treats that word as His terms of the covenant. So long as you believe and act in line with that word, the Lord would honour his part, because it has become a covenant between the two of you.

Walk in the light of your redemption by yielding totally to God’s promises. God has fulfilled His portion, it is now up to you to stop the enemy by taking sides with the scriptures.

  CONFESSION

My Lord Jesus has made me free through His sacrifice for me. I stand fast in this liberty and give no occasion for the devil to hold me bound any longer.

AN ETERNAL REDEMPTION

KEY SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 9:12 “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”.

The Lord Jesus did not offer the blood of goats and calves but by His own blood He entered once into the holy place to obtain an eternal redemption for us all. The price for our redemption is His divine precious blood.

Apostle Peter being inspired by the Holy Ghost wrote that, you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold but with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus.(1st Peter 1:18).The word redeem means to liberate one by the payment of ransom.

What were we redeemed from? We were redeemed from the dominion of death or better still from the dominion of Satan (Colossians 1:13). By virtue of the  price for our redemption, nothing is left to be paid.  Note: The payment or ransom was made unto God our father and not to the devil. This satisfied the divine law. (Ezekiel 18:4)

 In spite of what scripture says about our redemption from the dominion of Satan and his works, a number of us  Christians find ourselves still dominated by the works of the enemy.  Some of us do not walk in the vocation wherewith we have been called according to Ephesians.4:1. On relating with some people who call themselves Christians, you wonder whether they even read their bibles? Some are also bound by satanic power and sicknesses. To what degree has the redemption benefited you? What must you do to receive the full impact of your redemption? 1st Corinth 6:20, instructs us as follows: ” For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.

The above verse says, since we have been bought with a price, we must glorify God in our bodies and our spirits which are now God’s. The responsibility lies with us to do it. In our spirits we must live above sin. In our bodies we must be free from diseases A sick body can’t glorify God, neither will a sinful life glorify God. We can do these things by knowing God’s word and live according to what the word says. Taking Romans 8:2 as an example; it says “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and of death.” Act on this verse, Say to yourself, the law of sin and death, which produces sin and sicknesses no longer has dominion over me.

As you walk in the light of the word, darkness would no longer rule you. You would live in the light of your eternal redemption.
