KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 22:15 “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him”.
Our key scripture says foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. . I explained in our previous study that foolishness is the inability to act rightly. This is so because the child is empty of proper knowledge and lacks understanding.
We are living in a world where every kind of knowledge is easily accessible. Most of the information is very dangerous to the child’s moral development. The television is readily available and seriously feeds the child with so much information. Friends of our children who might have been wrongly influenced also give what they know to our children at school or even those in our vicinity. The child who is prone to error is destroyed if we allow the world or society to feed and inform him or her.
Every parent must “fight” for the moral rightness of his or her child. The Bible says when Moses mother saw he was a handsome (goodly) child she hid him for three months (Exodus 2:2). Remember Pharaoh had made a decree that every male child born to the Jews must be killed (Exodus 1:22). The god of this world is seeking to “kill” your child with error before he or she grows to know the truth.
Correct your child by keeping him or her from watching certain things. Start reading the scriptures to him or her. Tell him or her of the principles of the scriptures. Have time with the child. When she come for school take some time to talk with him or her. Let him or her know certain actions songs and certain things she must not do. Tell your child to rehearse some of the things which went on in the day to you. If you are able to process your children this way, you would know most of the wrong things that the child is exposed to.
The responsibilities of securing the proper moral, spiritual and physical development of your child rests with you. It is not the duty of his or her teacher. You must be close to the child to correct him or her from perpetuating foolishness. Take foolishness away with the truth.
The world is terribly forcing its way into the heart of every child. I would draw foolishness from my children’s heart with the truth.
Hebrews 12:16 lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
