KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 8:17 KJV “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”
(Read Matt 816-17)
After the Lord healed the multitudes Matthew the recorder of the event wrote that this is a fulfillment of the prophecy in the book of Isaiah 53:4 ” Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” Matthew associated this prophecy with that momentary healing of the multitudes, yet the prophecy had to do with the sufferings of Jesus just before His death, and so it also related to the healing of all men for all time. This prophecy is very important. It has introduced a new phase of God’s healing grace to humanity. Under the old covenant the Lord revealed Himself to his people as the Lord their healer. (Exodus 15:26). In that era God healed his children as they called on him when they were sick. The prophecy of Isaiah related to the covenant of the new Era. In this dispensation, our Lord Jesus has carried away our sicknesses and diseases in His own body on the cross (1 Peter 2:24). It is a legal act for all time. The scripture says, Himself took our infirmities. Please note the tenses. This has already been done. Dear child of God it is in the record of heaven that you have been healed since our Lord Jesus took away the sickness of all men.
I will want to make the following illustration to help us appreciate this amazing provision that our Lord and Saviour Jesus has made available for us all. Let’s consider a student who is in the boarding house. Whenever his pocket money runs out, he would call home and the father would remit some amounts to him. After some period, the father decides to make a new arrangement. He pays enough amount into the bank account for this boy. This time this boy does not have to call on the father for remittances of any amount, but will just go to the bank and withdraw the amount he needs. This is exactly God’s present arrangement for the healing of our bodies in this new covenant. In the light of our illustration the student is never in lack at any moment of his stay on campus. If he finds out he has run out of money, he just goes to the bank and writes a cheque for the required amount and then goes away loaded. He does not need to even call his father. All he needs is a valid cheque and the money is in his hands. All you need for the delivery of your healing is a living faith.
Dear child of God, according to Isaiah’s prophecy our Lord Jesus has already made payment for our healing. He has made an eternal deposit for our continual healing. What must you do to take a hold of your healing?
1. Thank the Lord Jesus for paying that costly price for your healing.
2 Acknowledge by declaring that our Lord Jesus has indeed taken away that disease
3 Tell the Lord that by faith you possess your healing, and that you know or believe you are healed from that very hour.
4.Thank the Lord again for your healing.
After such an act of faith you may have the condition changing right then or there may not be any visible change. Please don’t be worried let your assurance be in the credibility of God and His word. Make sure your faith never grows week, but keep strengthening your faith with the word of God. Keep declaring you are well. Keep thanking God for healing you.
CONFESSION
Thank you, heavenly Father, for your grace for healing. By your stripes I am healed. I have taken my healing by faith, and indeed I am very healthy. I have no disease in my body according to your word.
