KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 8:32 KJV “And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.”

We continue our study on the walk with Jesus through the gospels. After the miracle of calming the storms, the Lord got to the other side of the lake, and was met by two men who were possessed with devils. I believe when the Lord said let us go to the other side, He had in mind these gentlemen who had to be freed from satanic bondage. When the Lord met these lunatics the spirits in them started screaming, at Him to leave them and not disturb them. Demons are satisfied in living in men. They knew their days in the men were over. Every kind of obscure behaviour that opposes the word of God is of demonic influence. The gospel of Mark also reports this story giving some details of this man. ((Mark 5:1-20)

The following are some of his activities

1.Lived in the tombs

2 Cried and cut himself with stones (suicidal tendencies)

3 He broke the chains used in binding him. (Extra human powers)

4. Extremely violent

All these were done by external powers that operated through him to mess up his life.

 The demons requested that the Lord permit them to enter the swine. That were feeding near by This point teaches us that demons can’t enter a person without certain grounds or permission being given to them. Sin is a sure ground. Persistent breaking of God’s word would also allow them in. Wrong unscriptural actions of parents can permit them in. The Lord can also allow them as we saw in the lunatic’s case. When they requested to be allowed to go into the swine the Lord allowed it. Why did he do so? He did that, for all to see how God values men over every other creature in this life. The human soul is more expensive than any physical creature you can consider. The Lord said, what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul.

The head of swine could not hold the demons for even ten minutes. They drove the whole head into the sea just after they had entered them. The human soul has a far stronger capacity than that of any animal. The town’s folks came to see the lunatics in their right mind, yet they were still furious with the Lord, and they asked him to depart from their region. They preferred the survival of the swine to the deliverance of the human beings. Most fallen men would prefer money to man. This is the bases for corruption in our world, especially the political system. Dear child of God, never disvalue any human being, neither should you bow to exchange your soul for money. You are far more expensive than any amount of money you can imagine. As a child of God, you must also go to any length, that is scripturally right to save a soul from perishing in hell.

CONFESSION

AS God loved men so much that He gave Jesus to die for them, so do l also place a very high value on every man. I will do everything to assist him and to those that are lost in sin, I would go any length to get them saved.
