KEY SCRIPTURE: Mark 2:4 KJV” And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.”
When the Lord Jesus got to Capernaum, it was once again noised abroad that the Lord had come around. Lots of people came to his house. Mark 2:1, said that He was in the house. Bible commentators suggest ‘the house’ was where Jesus lived in Capernaum. There were some four friends who had a friend stricken with palsy or paralysis. This was a helpless brother. They decided to send him to Jesus, to be healed. They could not gain access to the house by the entrance, because of the people. These brothers had enough reason to send their helpless brother back home, yet they had concluded that by whatever means possible he must go home well. They decided to climb up the room where Jesus was, uncover the roof and let down their friend before Jesus. How far can you go for your brother, sister, or friend that is in a crisis of some kind. True love will always sacrifice. I believe lots of people would be shouting at them to stop. Their focus was the healing of their friend and not the insults of the people around.
Many people have given up on whatever good thing they might be doing because of the comments of others. These men managed to uncover the roof and let down their friend into the presence of the master. The scripture said in Mark 2:5 KJV that” When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” This kind of faith was a product of their love, a desire to see their brother well. True love would always produce visible acts of faith. Is there any loved one who is in a critical condition needing the support of faith by others? You can decide to be that anchor of faith for him or her.
There was a sister who was afflicted with a stomach condition that doctors could not easily diagnose the kind of sickness it was. Two brothers decided to seek God’s face for their sister till there was a solution. They both asked for leave from their respective workplaces without pay. They went to Achimota gardens to fast and pray. They prayed and fasted for forty days. After this fast, it so happened that one of the doctors decided to insert a tube into the belly of this sick woman and draw out the fluid in there. He did that, and that was the end of the affliction. I believe the Lord Jesus saw the faith of these brothers and decided to intervene. In the case of the sister the brothers fasted and prayed, yours may be to keep sharing words of encouragement everyday with the one in need. It may also be some physical support or financial assistance. All these are love motivated actions, causing one to make sacrifices for the restoration of a helpless one. You would be definitely rewarded for your loving deed.
PRAYER
Father I pray for anyone in a condition needing your intervention. Lord have mercy and save the afflicted one, stretch forth your healing hands and restore the helpless in various hospitals. Lord I ask that you release angels of healing into various isolation centres and set them free in Jesus mighty name. Amen
