COMPASSION RELEASES GOD’S POWER

KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 14:14 (KJV). “And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.”

The Lord Jesus was drawn from His solitude place by the multitude who came looking for help for various kinds of needs. The Lord could have gotten angered by the people invading His privacy, yet He rather did not see anything wrong with their action, but saw a needy, troubled and afflicted people who needed help. (Note: mangoes on a tree are never for itself but others, the gifts you may have are for the blessing of others. Give it to them when they need it) He was moved by compassion and healed those who needed healing. The power of God is mostly transmitted or stirred into action by compassion.

What is compassion? It is a stirring within one’s bowels to express pity, love and help to anyone who needs it. Compassion in itself is a moving of the Holy Spirit in you. “But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.”-Psalms 78:38 (KJV) In the above scripture God was moved with compassion and forgave them their sins. Compassion is always a conduit of the power of God.

Many of us wonder, how can I minister, to others by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can do this by cultivating an attitude of compassion. This can be done by considering the deplorable state of those who are oppressed or tormented. Stop focusing on your shortcomings rather consider others and pray for that deep sense of love for others. As you pray in passion, the Holy Spirit will fill your heart with compassion for others.

A brother shared his experience of ministering the power of God by compassion He said, he met a young man who he started sharing the gospel with. He spoke out of a great love for him. As he spoke he happened to place his hand on this stranger’s shoulder. The stranger felt waves of power flowing through the brother’s hand into his body. He held the brother’s hand which was on his shoulder and placed it on his chest, so that the waves of power would flow into his heart. He felt a great sense of peace for the first time in his life. This stranger was apparently a notorious criminal, but the brother did not know. He was wonderfully converted because of the love and compassion that allowed God’s power to flow to him. Don’t be worried about how to minister the power of God, just be compassionate about those you are ministering to, and the power would flow.

CONFESSION

The Holy Spirit has filled my heart with his love. I have a deep sense of compassion for the lost and those in need.

  1. an individual without compassion will rarely know the leading of the Lord. On multiple occasions was moved by the compassion of heart. Love is ever the great mover of men.
