PRAYING IN JESUS NAME

KEY SCRIPTURE: John 16:23-24 “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full”.

During our discussions on Jesus Christ, we learned that He is the mediator between God and man. 1st Timothy 2:5. We pray to the father in His name. We do not pray to the father through His name. To pray through Him makes Him a medium. He is not a medium, but as our High Priest, He represents us. (Hebrews 5:1).

We do not pray to Him (the Lord Jesus), as we find no place in scripture that says we may pray to him, rather we pray to the father in His name. (John 16:23-24)

We can also exercise authority over situations in His name, and He would respond. John 14:14 “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it”, And Mark 16:17’

From our key scripture, Jesus said in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Our Lord Jesus said this just before He died and rose again to sit on the right hand of the father on our behalf. He said in John 14:23 ” Whatsoever ye shall ask the father in my name, He will give it to you”.

The only way to approach the father is in His (Jesus) name. We can worship our Lord Jesus and worship is a type of prayer. We can tell Jesus how much we love and appreciate Him, but when it comes to praying and asking, we must ask the father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When the Lord Jesus was teaching the disciples a model prayer, He introduced God as our father (Matthew 6:9). We are to bow our knees to our Heavenly Father in prayer using the name of Jesus. (Ephesians 3:14, 15.

Some people also end their prayers by saying for Jesus’ sake. This also has no scriptural basis. Praying in Jesus’ name is offering yourself the highest protocol for heaven’s recognition, whiles praying for Jesus’ sake is requesting on behalf of Jesus which is simply wrong, since you are the one making the request not Jesus.

     PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank you for giving me such Honourable protocol to come to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you that when I pray in Jesus’ name it is like Jesus Himself making the request. Thank you that in this way I always receive my answers. I make this thanksgiving in Jesus’ name.

THOUGHT: PRAYING IN THE NAME OF JESUS IS THE HIGHEST PROTOCOL FOR HEAVEN’S RECOGNITION.
